There are many product options which will provide passive ventilation for new build and existing homes. As this is a relatively new concept to New Zealand, we have recommended the following range of product options as a simple and effective guideline.
The products have been selected to achieve the recommended airflow for roof pitches above 15° (10,000mm2 lin/m) and below 15° (25,000 mm2 lin/m).

The AB20 is a Polypropylene Ventilated Batten which enables warm air to escape from the lower roof void. The AB20 has an adhesive and flexible aluminium flashing which is designed to form to most cladding profiles and prevent water ingress on any pitch roof. The AB20 has been designed with the recommended 4mm vents which will repel the ingress of nesting insects which can be a common occurrence in cavities.
The AB20 is placed over the top of the roof cladding. The protective paper is then removed from the underside of the flashing tape and the vent will adhere to the cladding surface. The Apron flashing sits over the top of the AB20 and fixings are applied as shown above.
